A techie of Indian descent has achieved the highest level of success in his career. The appointment of Indian American CEO and seasoned Apple veteran Sabih Khan as Apple Inc.’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) replaces Jeff Williams.
Having worked for the computer behemoth for almost thirty years, Khan is currently the Senior Vice President of Operations and will formally become the COO later this month.
The 59-year-old began working with Apple in 1995 and was elevated to the position of Senior Vice President in 2019. He is in charge of Apple’s production and supply chain activities worldwide. Khan was born in 1966 in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, and attended school there until the fifth grade before his family relocated to Singapore.

Statement from Apple
According to a statement from Apple, as part of a long-term succession plan, Jeff Williams will hand over his duties as COO to Sabih Khan later this month.
Williams will still answer to Apple CEO Tim Cook and be in charge of Apple’s health programs, Apple Watch, and top-notch design team. The design staff at Apple will start answering directly to Cook after Williams retires later this year.
Khan received plaudits from Apple CEO Tim Cook, who described him as a “brilliant strategist and one of the central architects of Apple’s supply chain.” Apple has increased its production base in the United States and introduced new advanced manufacturing technology under Khan’s direction.
Khan was also given credit by Cook for lowering Apple’s carbon footprint by almost 60%. Khan was employed at GE Plastics (now SABIC) as a key account technical leader and application developer before to joining Apple.

Three decades of experience
After 30 years at Apple, Khan became a senior vice president of operations in 2019.
Over the past six years, he has been in charge of Apple’s global supply chain, which includes planning, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and product fulfillment operations, as well as Apple’s supplier responsibility initiatives that safeguard and train employees at production sites across the globe.
Additionally, by collaborating with suppliers to advance green manufacturing and contribute to resource conservation and environmental protection, the team supports Apple’s environmental goals.
