2027 KTM 790 Duke Unveiled: The Scalpel Returns Sharper Than Ever

KTM announces an officially update, the 2027 KTM 790 Duke, bringing a significant update to one of its most popular middleweight motorcycles. Known for its razor-sharp handling and robust performance, the latest iteration elevates the rider experience with enhanced ergonomics, updated hardware, and a much more aggressive stance.

Rather than subtle tweaks, the new 790 Duke borrows heavily from the larger 990 Duke and 1390 Super Duke R. It features a completely redesigned “floating” LED headlamp, a larger front fairing, and a reshaped fuel tank. Despite this more muscular appearance, KTM managed to shave 2 kg off the bike’s total weight, further improving its agility on winding roads.

Powering the bike is the familiar Euro 5+ compliant 799cc LC8c parallel-twin engine, which continues to deliver a thrilling 105 hp and 87 Nm of torque. The engine retains the quick acceleration and mid-range punch that Duke fans expect, all while meeting the latest emissions standards through a redesigned exhaust system.

The 2027 model boasts significant hardware upgrades, most notably swapping the previous brake calipers for an all-new, in-house WP radial braking system for superior stopping power and feel. Suspension duties are handled by updated 43mm WP Apex forks and a revised rear shock, both featuring simplified 5-click adjustability for better stability in the city or the canyons.

On the tech front, riders get a refined 5-inch bonded-glass TFT display with a cleaner, more intuitive interface. The electronics suite includes traction control, cornering ABS, riding modes, and a quickshifter. In a massive win for enthusiasts, KTM also announced it is phasing out its controversial “Demo Mode” based on rider feedback, meaning fewer paywalls for software features.

While official pricing for some markets has not yet been announced, the 2027 KTM 790 Duke is expected to hit dealerships starting in late July. With this latest update, the new 790 Duke continues KTM’s tradition of offering an uncompromised, powerful middleweight machine that appeals to both experienced riders and everyday enthusiasts.
