‘Dhurandhar 2’ Shatters Records with ₹100 Crore Opening Despite Release Glitches
The wait for the most anticipated sequel of 2026 is finally over. Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, the high-octane spy thriller directed by Aditya Dhar, officially hit the silver screens on March 19, 2026. Living up to its massive hype, the film has scripted history by becoming the biggest Hindi opener to date, minting over ₹100 crore net on its first day in India.
A Masterclass in Espionage and Emotion
Picking up right where the first installment left off, the sequel follows the gritty journey of Jaskirat Singh Rangi (played by a powerhouse Ranveer Singh), an undercover Indian agent operating under the alias Hamza Ali Mazari. The narrative takes us deep into the underworld of Karachi, where Hamza navigates a treacherous web of terror funding and political betrayal to avenge the 26/11 attacks.
What makes Dhurandhar 2 stand out is its human touch. Beyond the “bazookas and blood,” Dhar explores the internal conflict of a man who has lived a lie for so long that his real identity feels like a distant memory. The chemistry between Ranveer and Sara Arjun, combined with the chilling presence of Arjun Rampal as Major Iqbal, creates a cinematic experience that feels both grand and deeply personal.

Technical Hurdles and Fan Fever
The road to this record-breaking opening wasn’t entirely smooth. On the eve of the release, many fans—particularly in South India—faced disappointment as several paid previews were cancelled due to technical delays in delivering the Digital Cinema Package (DCP).
Director Aditya Dhar personally reached out to the “Dhurandhar family” on social media, apologizing for the glitch and urging fans to avoid spoilers. “Let every fan walk in curious and walk out with their own personal version of what they felt,” he requested. Despite these hiccups, theDhurandhar 2 movie has seen an unprecedented footfall, proving that the audience’s love for a well-told story can overcome any technical barrier.
With a nearly four-hour runtime, the film is being hailed as a “game-changer” for the industry. Trade analysts predict it could become the first Hindi original to cross ₹1,000 crore in domestic revenue.
